Wed 20 Jun 2018 | 'By George!' - Actor/singer and pianist Michael Lunts - We welcome back Michael to cast a witty eye on Englishness in comedy songs. Musical offerings from Noël Coward, Gilbert and Sullivan, Flanders and Swann and other masters of the comedy song, provide an affectionate and often hilarious foray through the quirks of a people who do not always take themselves as seriously as those stiff upper lips suggest! Wed 11 Jul 2018 | 'Beethoven & Mozart' - Players from the Orchestra of St John - Beethoven's Septet is a lighthearted work, more like a serenade and written for the unusual combination of clarinet, horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello and double bass. The Mozart Horn Quintet was written for horn, violin, two violas and cello - another unusual combination, and is a lively and entertaining work. Orchestra of St John's website |
Wed 18 Jul 2018 | 'Bach & Kodály cello solos' - Richard Jenkinson - Richard is well known on the local, national and international music scene. He will perform Kodály's Sonata for Solo Cello, which is full of Hungarian folk music and considered to be the instrument's most challenging work. Richard will also perform the beautiful Bach Cello Suite No.1, which needs no explanation. Richard Jenkinson's website This concert generously supported by Margaret Goode |
